Cubbie Blue and His Dog Dot is a wonderfully imaginative and heartwarming story that will capture the attention of young readers. The book follows three multiracial seven-year-old boys with unique backgrounds who befriend Cubbie Blue, a tiny yet remarkably wise visitor from an enchanted part of Antarctica, and his minuscule dog, Dot.
I loved how the story blends fantasy with meaningful lessons. Despite their small size, Cubbie and Dot become powerful guides for the boys, teaching about friendship, empathy, and the importance of making good choices. The story conveys subtle moral lessons without ever feeling preachy, making it both entertaining and enriching. The theme of unlikely friendships is handled beautifully, showing children that connections can form across differences and that even the smallest among us can make a big impact. The writing is engaging, the characters are diverse and relatable, and the adventures are exciting enough to keep kids turning pages. This book is perfect for parents looking for stories that are fun, thoughtful, and inspiring. Highly recommended for young readers and for anyone who enjoys a mix of magic, humor, and heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Awesome Read For Me and The Kids!

I read this story aloud to my children and I can truly say it teaches you the rue meaning of thanksgiving. My children learned that Thanksgiving is not just about the food but it’s about being grateful for all if the blessings that you have.

I absolutely loved how the story had a multicultural mix. Not only did my kids learn a few things but I did as well. Besides this being a fantastic read it is also a little history lesson at well.

The illustration in this book is wonderful as well.

When I first started reading, after the first 5 sentences I did not want to put it down.

My kids and I learned the meaning of kinro-kansha and I also love how the character Samoset was a real character taken from history, which I did not know until I reached the end of the story.

Overall this was an amazing lesson and if I could use two words to describe The Thanksgiving Dinner Plater it would be the word warm and educational.
